Simply put...

...I am a happy girl.

Sure, things don't always go the way I planned, but they still go.   Life is always moving forward.  The earth is always turning.  Truly, being happy it's all in how you choose to view life.  And believe me, it's a choice!

In my years I have learned three important things...
1. The world does not revolve around me (if mama ain't happy...ain't nobody cares)
2. Being upset takes effort & energy (and I prefer to be lazy)
3. What's done is done (unless you own a time machine)

Our mentality is amazing.  Knowledge is power, but also with great knowledge comes great sorrow.  It's a balance; choose to be happy with great knowledge.  We learn from experience, and boy do we learn!  But I know people that stay hurt, they stay (mentally) in their past.  Why?  They can't change it.  It's too late.  It's a helium balloon released to the sky.... there is no getting it back!  Just enjoy the fact that it's floating away, up to God, where it can't be dealt with.  If you are an atheist, then just think of this, at a certain height, the balloon will pop.  Either way * Poof*, problem gone.

In life, you will face trials and forks in the road.  You will make good choices, and bad ones.  You will go fast, you will move slow.  Everyone does, no one is alone in these matters.  Listen to song lyrics, read books, watch movies...  it's a humans life to have these problems and blessings.  Bottom line is... we live.

Some people out there, the theme repeats... I'm sad, I'm hurt, Someone lied to me.  It's no wonder they are dark and cynical... their thoughts dwell in this small shadowed corner of their mind.   I guarantee there is someone out there, that would look at that life like it's a cool clean pool on a hot summer day.   Every day we face the choice... will this be a good day or a bad day?  If you wake up and say, today is a bad day... then it will be.  Our minds are amazingly powerful.  I have a paper on my fridge that says "Watch your thoughts, they become words.  Watch your words, they become actions.  Watch your actions, they become your character.  Watch your character, it becomes your destiny".   What are you destined to be?

If you feel like your caught in that spin cycle of cynical thoughts...  here is what I do when I get like that.  I empty my thoughts (as well as I can).  I find something that makes me happy... and do it.  I remind myself of the person that I know loves (or loved me) and remember some funny memory.  I remember the people who have worse situations than myself.  I try to help them, somehow, or at least help another person.  Karma comes back, I guarantee.  If I hold open a door for someone, later on a door is held for me...true story!

It's the simple things in life...
Watch as the sun sets and the stars emerge from their hiding places.
Listen to a child laugh joyously at something you would find menial.
Watch a dog play with a toy or another dog.
Watch an elderly couple help each other.
Sing along to a silly song or a song that lifts your spirit.
Dance by yourself, and let it all loose.
Read a good book.
Listen to the wind blow softly through the trees.
And breathe.
