Right Hook, Left Hook

I am 'hooked' on Once Upon a Time on ABC.  I never miss any episodes, even the repeats.

I was also lost in the LOST series, which was created and written by the same geniuses that created my new favorite fantasy fairy tale show.  Yes, I think they are geniuses.  I am so amazed and intrigued at the twists and turns they make using old fairy tales!  Speaking of, if you haven't seen the finale from this past Sunday, don't keep reading, I might give something away.

So, I always enjoy reading the episode recaps from different writers, and reading the comments below.  I have read quite a few about Captain Hook, and how he flops sides so easily.  But honestly, isn't that the nature of a pirate?  As much as people loved Jack Sparrow, I don't recall him ever being on anyone's side but his own.  Such is Captain Hook.

I have liked him all along, but after last night's episode, I really love that character now!  The only soft spot he had (until last night) was for Milah, Rumple's runaway wife, and Hook's true love.  And after Rumple crushed her heart killing her, he swore revenge on Rumple and has been hell-bent on it ever since.  Last night we saw another soft spot, for Baelfire, Milah's son.  When Bae was taken into another portal and left behind by his father, he ended up in London.  Through happenstance, he wound up living with the Darling family.  Wendy was intrigued by the shadow that came to her window at night and took her off to a magical land.  Bae warned her against it, and in an effort to save the Darling boys, he went with the shadow in their place.  But while flying over the ocean, he dropped from the Shadows grasp, and was rescued by the crew of the Jolly Roger.  Once Hook discovered who the boy was, Milah's son.  He bonded with him and offered him 'a pirate's life'.  Long story short... by the end of this episode, he showed more softy-ness and put aside his vengeance for the rescue of Bae's son, Henry.  All the while, keeping his quirky attitude as his emotional wall.

He teamed up with Prince Charming to search for Tamara & Greg... hilarious little cop duo those two.  This of course, is after Prince Charming punches him square in the face, "That's for last time I saw you." HA HA!  Loved it.

Mr. Gold has become a big softie, giving up his plight to kill "his undoing" in order to save him.  Regina, also has softened her rage!  She makes a bold attempt to save the town of Storybrooke, and win over Henry's heart.  Which she does, finally.  Now, his flip flopping was annoying me.  But thankfully he calls her MOM in this episode.  And Emma finally calls her parents Mom and Dad.  So sweet!

All these "villains" turning soft, at the realization that their power is being threatened by Tamara & Greg's unknown leader.  There are implications throughout the show that point straight to Peter Pan as the number one villainous leader of the magic-killers.  And by the end we learn that Peter Pan is after Henry, but why!?

And Peter Pan is evil!?  Wow.  I swear these writers are geniuses.

Until we meet again.... ~Cin
